There are very kindhearted people out there who are willing to adopt rescued dogs. Al and Jocelyn are looking for a pit bull to bring to their home in Manhattan. They traveled all the way from Manhattan to New Orleans to adopt from the Villalobos Rescue Center.
According to Mariah Torres, one of the shelter employees, the center has never had a dog move out to Manhattan. It adds a positive light to the shelter’s reputation if one of their pit bulls is living in a big city. If that happens, more people will see how well behaved pit bulls can be.
The couple is looking for a dog who is confident enough to live in a city. However, the dog must also be calm enough for apartment living. Keeping that in mind, they were introduced to several dogs who might be a good match for them.
The last dog introduced to them was Vladimir. Another employee named Marcel found the dog, and he introduced him to Mariah after. If Vladimir wasn’t the right fit for Al and Jocelyn, then Mariah had no idea who else to introduce.
Vladimir greeted the couple with a huge smile. The pit bull was very sincere, and he just wanted to sit beside the couple. The couple knew that Vladimir was the perfect candidate for them after the initial interaction.
Mariah was hopeful that everything would work out. Vladimir will be the first Villalobos dog that lives in the middle of New York City. However, there was one problem that arose. The vets found a mast cell tumor inside Vladimir’s head.
Mariah called to ask the couple if they still wanted to adopt him. Without hesitation, the couple said yes. They have been waiting for Vladimir for so long, and a medical issue will not stop them.
Mariah and Marcel checked the couple’s apartment before bringing Vladimir in. Surprisingly, the dog knew which door to enter. Vladimir also jumped on the couch, which was something he was unable to do before. The shelter employees were emotional, but at the same time, they were glad that Vladimir finally got a permanent home.
