A few months ago, Howl of a Dog organized a free neuter/spay program in a small village in Romania. The rescue workers met a lot of beautiful dogs and learned about their wonderful stories. They spent two weeks with the villagers, talking to them, and helping them understand the importance of animal welfare.
During their stay, volunteers noticed one dog in particular. Remy is a beautiful brown dog. He, however, doesn’t have a family of his own. But regardless, he is the friendliest among all the other dogs in the community.
Every day, within those two weeks, Remy came and checked in on the rescue workers. He greeted them with his contagious smile and his tail that never stopped wagging. No matter if it was sunny or rainy, Remy was there, supervising the event and participating in every activity.
The volunteers asked around, but nobody knew Remy’s story. They didn’t know if someone owned him. But a friendly, loving, and smart dog like Remy deserve to be in a home, not on the streets.
In rural areas in the country, people use dogs to protect their properties, guard their livestock, or assist them in hunting. They are tools for most of them. Sadly, dogs that couldn’t do such things, like Remy, are considered useless.
Remy sleeps in the sidewalk, right outside a small grocery store. The woman who owns the shop was kind enough to feed him. But besides her, Remy didn’t have anyone to call his family.
The rescuers tried to look for a home while they were in town. Sadly, no one wanted to adopt Remy. So instead, they decided to take him and brought him to their rescue center.
Now, Remy is in a safe place. He has his own bed, lots of toys, and new friends. He is happy that help finally came, and he’ll be very grateful once his forever family comes and brings him home.
