As dog owners, we often wonder what our dogs are telling us. After years of spending time with our dogs, we tend to understand some of their behaviors. This is why we need to pay close attention to our dogs whenever they act weird or peculiar.
Dogs are naturally protective of their families. They will not hesitate to put their own lives on the line to protect their loved ones. Whenever your dog acts up or displays unusual behavior, it’s worth it to pay attention to them and figure what they’re trying to tell you.
A dog named Ruby became a local hero when she saved the life of her owner. Ruby’s mom, Ronene Ando, stated that Ruby started acting really peculiar one day. Ronene described Ruby as generally an easy-going and calm dog who doesn’t bark very often. However, Ronene suddenly noticed that Ruby was barking incessantly and carried on this weird behavior for an hour.
Ronene knew that something was terribly wrong, and she also knew that she needed to listen to Ruby. So, Ronene decided to follow Ruby, who led her to the basement. At that time, Ronene recently installed a brand new propane heater. When Ronene smelled the unmistakable scent of gas, Ronene knew that she needed to act fast.
As soon as Ronene smelled the gas leak, she immediately shut off the gas valve. Ronene is so thankful that Ruby was there to warn her about the danger. If it weren’t for Ruby, it would’ve ended in tragedy for Ronene and her family. The gas leak could suffocate Ronene and her family while they slept, or it could’ve caused an explosion in the house.
Ruby is a certified therapy dog, but she’s never had any rescue training. It was Ruby’s instinct that helped save Ronene and her family. Ronene couldn’t be prouder of what her dog did for her family. Here’s an amazing video telling the story of how a dog managed to warn her owners of danger and eventually saving their lives.
