There could be nothing more unbearable than witnessing an abandoned dog quivering in the winter season. Just as how anyone would feel bad to see a dog getting dumped, the staff of the Delaware Humane Association thought the same way when they found Sky, a skinny six-year-old dog, abandoned at their front parking lot one day.
When the team was about to pick Sky up that day, they saw an attached note on her collar. The message revealed why her owner left her, and it included some of her personal information. The staff was able to identify Sky’s name and age the moment they opened the letter.
They pitied Sky even more as they continued reading the message, where it revealed that her owner got destitute and could no longer provide her financial support, so she got abandoned. Written on the note also was how friendly and jolly the dog is.
In the letter’s latter section, the writer requested help from the team. He asked to aid him to look for a safer place for Sky to live where she could get attended.
After reading the letter, the staff recognized how cheerful the dog was, which proved her former owner’s claims. They noticed that Sky tends to wag her tail when surrounded by people. The poor dog also showed how grateful she was for her having a cozy bed to sleep in and food to feast on when she was hungry.
The staff gave up on trying to find Sky’s owner to take her back in again. After contemplating, they concluded that it would be better not to do so since the act of abandoning a dog at their parking lot is against the law, and Sky may get abandoned again.
When the Delaware Humane Association posted Sky’s story on social media, her story went viral, and after a few days, it reached her original owner. Probably guilt-tripped, the former owner showed himself to the team. He apologized for what he did and narrated how he lost his and his wife’s job, forcing them to choose to leave their furry friend.
Luckily, after the post struck many netizens’ hearts, Sky received several donations of food to consume. And a few days later, a new family came to give her a new home.
